By downloading, installing, or using the Penzel iOS app ("Penzel", "the app"), you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
Penzel is a reference tool for miniature painters. It provides:
Penzel is a reference and educational tool. Painting results vary by skill, materials, environmental conditions, and execution. The app does not guarantee any specific outcome.
Penzel grants you a non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the app on Apple devices you own or control, subject to Apple's standard App Store End User License Agreement ("Apple EULA"), which is incorporated into these terms by reference. To the extent these Terms conflict with the Apple EULA, the Apple EULA prevails.
Penzel offers one optional in-app purchase, Penzel Full Access, for $9.99 USD (or your local currency equivalent). This is a one-time, non-consumable purchase that unlocks:
Payment is processed by Apple via StoreKit. Refunds are handled exclusively by Apple per their App Store refund policy. Penzel has no ability to issue, deny, or otherwise modify refund decisions.
The Full Access purchase is tied to your Apple ID. You may restore it on any device signed into the same Apple ID via the "Restore Purchase" button in the app.
Paint names, product codes, and color appearance values referenced in Penzel are factual information about commercially-available products and are not original creative works. Brand names ("Citadel", "Vallejo", "AK Interactive", "Scale75", "Army Painter") and product names are trademarks of their respective owners. Penzel is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any paint manufacturer or by Games Workshop, Citadel Miniatures, or Forge World.
Painting recipes and diagnostic entries are adapted from publicly-available sources, primarily articles published on Goonhammer and similar miniature-painting publications. Each entry in Penzel includes a source attribution link to its original article. Recipes are paraphrased — they are not verbatim copies of the source articles. Original authors retain copyright in their published articles; Penzel claims no ownership of the underlying techniques or facts described.
If you are an author or publisher whose work has been adapted in Penzel and you would like an entry removed or its attribution corrected, email slidappquestions@gmail.com and we will respond within 7 days.

Penzel is provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any defect will be corrected.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, in no event shall Penzel, its developer, or its affiliates be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages — including but not limited to lost profits, lost data, ruined miniatures, or wasted paint — arising out of or in connection with your use of the app. Our total cumulative liability shall not exceed the amount you paid for the in-app purchase, if any.
We may update Penzel at any time to add features, fix bugs, or update the bundled corpus. We may also update these Terms; if we do, we will revise the date at the top of this document. Continued use of the app after the effective date of an update constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.
If a change to these Terms materially reduces your rights as a user, we will provide notice in-app before the change takes effect.
You may stop using Penzel at any time by uninstalling the app. We reserve the right to terminate or restrict access to Penzel features if you materially breach these Terms, although in practice for a $9.99 single-purchase app this is a theoretical provision.
These Terms are governed by applicable consumer-protection laws in your jurisdiction of residence, with disputes subject to Apple's standard dispute-resolution procedures as outlined in the Apple EULA.
